ISO 30000 Alignment

ISO 30000 Ship Recycling Management Systems

ISO 30000 is the international management system standard specifically developed for ship recycling facilities. It specifies requirements for a safe and environmentally sound ship recycling management system, and provides a structured framework for implementing the operational requirements of the Hong Kong Convention and EU Ship Recycling Regulation.

ISO 30000 was developed by the International Organization for Standardization in recognition of the need for a management systems framework — analogous to ISO 14001 for environmental management — specifically tailored to the complex operational and regulatory environment of ship recycling.

The standard covers all aspects of ship recycling facility management: hazardous material handling and containment, worker health and safety, environmental monitoring and waste management, documentation and record-keeping, emergency preparedness, and continual improvement systems.

FoilDock Panama's operational systems are designed in alignment with ISO 30000 from the outset — rather than retrofitting compliance onto existing practices. This means the Foil Basin technology, the 9-step Safe Recycling Cycle, and the documentation infrastructure are all structured to meet ISO 30000 requirements as integral features of the FoilDock Panama operating model.

Key Requirements

Management System Documentation

ISO 30000 requires a fully documented management system covering all aspects of ship recycling operations. FoilDock Panama's operational procedures are documented to ISO 30000 standard from day one.

Hazardous Material Control

The standard requires systematic identification, handling, storage and disposal of hazardous materials recovered during ship recycling. FoilDock Panama's Foil Basin containment system provides the physical infrastructure for full compliance.

Environmental Management

ISO 30000 requires active environmental monitoring and waste management systems. FoilDock Panama implements environmental monitoring protocols aligned with both ISO 30000 and the EU SRR environmental requirements.

Worker Safety

Comprehensive worker health and safety management, including PPE requirements, confined space procedures, and hazardous substance exposure controls, is required by ISO 30000 and implemented throughout FoilDock Panama's operations.
